Overview
At this point in time the United States is still under the British government. The United States wanted to be separated from Britain and become and independent country. A lot of people felt that the British government was being unfair and harsh. They could not take it any more so they fought and declared independence. One they officially became an independent country they needed new laws to live by and rights to provide for their people. They wanted to live under a government completely different than the British government. In 1787 the Constitution was made and later in 1788 the Constitution was ratified. Now the new country had a new government, which had a new rule book, and this rule book is the highest law in the country.
